Aircraft Size Asteroid Moving towards Eath, NASA said

Regardless of the recent wave of rainfall by satellite. An asteroid the size of an aircraft carrier sailing toward Earth, NASA said.

Do not worry, though. The space agency said that while flying over next week of the asteroid 2005 YU55 bring the rock closest planet to the moon, the asteroid will cross safely passed, leaving in its wake not the destruction, but the data.

Asteroid near Earth

The agency has already begun to use radio waves to find the space rock 1300 feet wide, it will be closer to Earth Tuesday at about 3:30 PT hours. With the antenna in its Deep Space Network at Goldstone, California, and planetary radar at Arecibo in Puerto Rico, NASA hopes to raise a lot of details about the features of the surface of the asteroid, the form , dimensions and other physical properties.
An extraterrestrial rock did not come so close to Earth since 1976, and will not be witness to another meeting so close to 2028, NASA said. YU55 was not even as close to 200 years. Amateur astronomers who want to see for themselves will need a telescope with an aperture of 6 inches or more, the agency said.

Radar observations made ??in 2010 show that YU55 is roughly spherical and rotates slowly, with a rotation period of about 18 hours.
