The militants, security forces clash in Egypt

Cairo (dailynewyorknews) – Six people died and at least 300 were injured when pro-democracy activists on Friday clashed with Egyptian security forces in downtown Cairo, a government official.

Two of the dead were teenagers and one was an Islamic scholar, said Dr. Hisham Shiha, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health. At least four of the injured suffered gunshot wounds, with one person shot in the back of the head, he said.

Adel Said, spokesman for the attorney general, said that an investigation is underway. “We are questioning 14 men arrested at the scene of clashes and have a team now in two hospitals in question, the wounded to understand how the injuries were inflicted,” he said.

An independent team was in the morgue monitoring of death, he said.

Meanwhile, people were throwing Molotov cocktails, stones and glass.

Men with what looked like military uniforms threw bricks and concrete for the protesters off a six-storey building. A building of the Ministry of Transport have burned about, and the tents in a camp for activists in Parliament burning.

The military fired warning shots into the air and water cannon spray to disperse the crowd.

Shih said that about 100 people were injured, including nine who were killed by live ammunition. Saeed said 12 people were charged with destroying public property.

A police officer denied the Interior Ministry were involved.

“This has nothing to do with the police or the Department of the Interior, and we have no forces on the scene of the clashes,” said General Mustafa Marwan, a spokesman for the ministry.

A doctor at a clinic, said he had tried dozens of protesters against cuts and injuries from broken glass and stones.

“It all started when the army arrested a man and then an hour later left the building could barely walk by the blows,” said activist and blogger Walid Nothing. “His face and body and clothing ( SE) with blood stains, as protesters took him to (a) the hospital. ”

Mona Seif rights activist beaten identified Aboudi Ibrahim. He has “no broken bones, bruises, but important for the face, cuts and shock severe electrical burns. We comply with a police report soon, “he said.

The militants were camped outside parliament in protest against the military-appointed Prime Minister.
